Objectives

The object of the CIO is:

-The prevention and relief of poverty in the UK and Ethiopia by providing grants, items and services to individuals in need and/or charities working to prevent or relieve poverty.

– The promotion of good health by raising awareness, providing advocacy and advice and signposting individuals to appropriate

services.

Nothing in this constitution shall authorise an application of the property of the CIO for the purposes which are not charitable in accordance with [section 7 of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005] and [section 2 of the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008

  1. Enhanced Health Services Accessibility: Improve access to quality healthcare services for underprivileged communities through partnerships with healthcare providers and mobile health clinics.
  2. Educational Outreach: Deliver educational programs that focus on health literacy, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyle choices, particularly targeting children and adults in deprived areas.
  3. Nutritional Support: Implement programs that provide access to nutritious food, such as community gardens and partnerships with food banks, to address food insecurity and its health impacts.
  4. Mental Health Support: Develop and support mental health initiatives that provide counselling and therapy services, emphasizing accessibility for low-income families.
  5. Advocacy and Policy Change: Advocate for policies that reduce health inequities, such as improved housing, environmental improvements, and access to preventative care, engaging with policymakers and stakeholders.
  6. Community Capacity Building: Empower local communities through training and resources to develop their own solutions to health and poverty, fostering sustainable change.
  7. Research and Collaboration: Collaborate with academic institutions and other NGOs to conduct research focused on the link between poverty and health, using findings to guide program development and policy recommendations.
  8. Volunteer and Donor Engagement: Expand the volunteer network and increase donor engagement through targeted campaigns that highlight the impact of contributions on community health and wellbeing.

These tailored elements emphasize local action and partnerships, aligning with the unique socio-economic landscapes of the UK’s diverse communities. They also incorporate the reality of existing public health systems and the specific challenges faced by underserved populations within the country.
